CAROLINE JEREMIAH
DEPUTY PRINCIPAL, MORNINGTON YEAR 10-12 CAMPUS
As we near the end of Term Three, I wish our Year 10 and Year 11 students a well-deserved break over the holidays. Our Year 12 students undertaking VCE examinations will be preparing for their trial examinations, and I encourage them to use their time wisely.
It is the responsibility of every student to ensure they are thoroughly prepared for these trial examinations, as they are essential for evaluating understanding and readiness for the final VCAA examinations.

We wish our students the best of luck in their preparations.
Information regarding end-of-year events for the Class of 2024 will be communicated over the coming weeks, while key dates can be found on the college website calendar.
In Term Three, both Year 11 Philosophy classes went to the Melbourne Zoo as part of our study of Ethics and Moral Philosophy. After researching normative ethical theories looking at various ethical issues and problems, and exploring utilitarian beliefs, we applied this knowledge to the question 'Is it ethical to have zoos in the 21st century?'. While at the zoo, besides everyone being very excited about all the animals (and food), we got an inside tour of some of the facilities that animals used to be kept in. We compared that with the current facilities and concepts of animal nurturing and welfare. The trip was incredibly beneficial in helping us determine how to respond to some of the largest ethical problems relating to animal welfare. It also assisted in our essay on the topic analysing arguments justifying or critiquing the modern existence of zoos. Thank you to Mr Kerlin and Mr Harkins for organising this and helping us continue our philosophical journey!

The Year 10 Geography students took a trip into Melbourne to complete fieldwork on wellbeing in August. The aim was to investigate if wellbeing varies between neighbouring areas within the same city. Using key indicators of wellbeing, such as housing, open space, and access to education and services, the students made judgments on East Melbourne and Richmond. Photos of each area were taken, interviews were conducted, field sketches were made, and research was used as evidence which is currently being correlated back in class.

Congratulations to our Senior Girls Netball teams! The Padua College Gold team secured top spot on the SIS ladder today with a fun and competitive game against our Padua Blue team. According to their Coach, Ms Whittaker, the girls were a joy to watch and coach as they played every match very well and with great team spirit.
